In addition to providing a sanctuary for great apes, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy aims to preserve wildlife and make money from wildlife tourism and related businesses that are then reinvested in conservation and community development. Ol Pejeta is home to two of the last northern white rhinos in the world and is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. In a sanctuary created to rehabilitate animals rescued from the illegal market, it is the only location in Kenya where chimpanzees can be seen. Tour Highlights + Overview

Depart Nairobi at 6 a.m. and proceed to Nanyuki town around 9.30 a.m. You will make a halt at the Equator Crossing. This is an imaginary line that separates the Earth into two hemispheres. There is a large sign where you may take a photo, indicating that you are currently crossing the equator for 30 minutes. From there, you will head to Ol Pejeta. Begin the first game drive, which will take you to see chimps and other wild species on the northern side of the large conservancy.

By 12 p.m., arrive to Serena Sweet Waters Lodge. As you take pictures of the lodge’s resident monkeys, you may observe the creatures coming to the watering well in front of the lodge to drink water. Enjoy your {OPTIONAL} lunch. Later, you will travel to the park’s eastern side, where you can view the three Northern White rhinos walking freely in their spacious enclosure and visit Baraka, a blind rhino. Afterwards, begin driving back to Nairobi for the drop-off.
